Driving Directions to the University of Maryland Campus

From Baltimore and Points North
• Take I-95 South to Washington, D.C.'s Capital Beltway (I-495).
• Take Exit 27 and then follow signs to Exit 25 (U.S. 1 South toward College Park).
• Proceed approximately two miles south on U.S. Route 1.
• Turn right onto Campus Drive (main entrance to campus).

From Virginia and Points South
• Take I-95 North to Washington, D.C.'s Capital Beltway (I-495).
• Continue North on I-95/I-495 toward Baltimore.
• Take Exit 25 (U.S. 1 South toward College Park).
• Proceed approximately two miles south on U.S. Route 1.
• Turn right onto Campus Drive (main entrance to campus).

From Virginia and Points West
• Take I-66 East or I-270 South to Washington, D.C.'s Capital Beltway (I-495).
• Go East on I-495 toward Baltimore/Silver Spring.
• Take Exit 25 (U.S. 1 South toward College Park).
• Proceed approximately two miles south on U.S. Route 1.
• Turn right onto Campus Drive (main entrance to campus).

From Annapolis and Points East
• Take U.S. 50 to Washington, D.C.'s Capital Beltway (I-495).
• Go North on I-95/I-495 toward Baltimore.
• Take Exit 25 (U.S. 1 South toward College Park).
• Proceed approximately two miles south on U.S. Route 1.
• Turn right onto Campus Drive (main entrance to campus).

From Washington, D.C. (Northwest/Southwest)
• Take 16th St. North which becomes Georgia Ave. North at Maryland/D.C. line.
• Go East on I-495 toward Baltimore.
• Take Exit 25 (U.S. 1 South toward College Park).
• Proceed approximately two miles south on U.S. Route 1.
• Turn right onto Campus Drive (main entrance to campus).

From Washington, D.C. (Northeast/Southeast)
• Take Rhode Island Ave. (U.S. 1 North) which becomes Baltimore Ave. North at Maryland/D.C. line.
• Proceed through the city of College Park.
• Turn left onto Campus Drive (main entrance to campus).

By Train

Metrorail from Washington, D.C.
• Take the Red Line train (toward Glenmont); transfer at the Fort Totten station to the Green Line train (toward Greenbelt); get off at the College Park/U of MD station.
• Or take the Green Line train (toward Greenbelt); get off at the College Park/U of MD station.
• The university's Shuttle-UM buses pick up university-bound passengers on the EAST side of the Metrorail station.
• Please contact Shuttle-UM for further bus usage information

MARC from Baltimore (Inner Harbor)
• Take the Camden Line train (toward Washington, D.C.); get off at the College Park station.
• The university's Shuttle-UM buses pick up university-bound passengers on the EAST side of the Metrorail station.

MARC from Baltimore (Penn Station/West Baltimore/BWI Airport)
• Take the Penn Line train (toward Washington, D.C.); get off at Union Station.
• Transfer to the Metrorail system.
• Take the Red Line train (toward Glenmont); transfer at the Fort Totten station to the Green Line train (toward Greenbelt); get off at the College Park/U of MD station.
• The university's Shuttle-UM buses pick up university-bound passengers on the EAST side of the Metrorail station.

Amtrak
• To Washington, D.C. (Union Station): Transfer to Metrorail system. Follow directions above.
• To New Carrollton, MD: Transfer to Metrorail system, taking the Orange Line to the Green Line, and following directions above.

Reagan Washington National (DCA)
• Located in Arlington, Virginia, this airport is located about 15 miles south of College Park. Travel can be slow through downtown Washington, D.C. during rush hours; approximate driving time is 40 minutes.
• You can take the Metrorail from the airport.
• Take the Yellow Line (toward Mt. Vernon Square), transferring to the Green Line (toward Greenbelt), and get off at College Park/U of MD station.
• The university's Shuttle-UM buses pick up university-bound passengers on the EAST side of the metrorail station.
• Please contact Shuttle-UM for further bus usage information
• Super Shuttle is also a convenient option. The cost for one way trip is $25 for the first guest and $8 for each additional guest.
• Taxi service from the airport to campus will cost approximately $40.00.

Baltimore-Washington International (BWI)
• Located just outside Baltimore, this airport is approximately 25 miles north of College Park. Driving time is approximately 35 minutes.
• MARC Train service is available from the BWI Rail Station to College Park.
• The university's Shuttle-UM buses pick up university-bound passengers on the EAST side of the metrorail station.
• Please contact Shuttle-UM for further bus usage information
• Super Shuttle is also a convenient option. The cost of a oneway journey is $27 for the first passenger and $11 for each additional guest.
• Taxi service from the airport to campus will cost approximately $35.00.

Washington Dulles International (IAD)
• Located near Herndon, Virginia, this airport is about 35 miles southwest of College Park. Driving time is approximately one hour.
• You can take the Metro Bus and Metrorail from the airport
• Bus service is available to take you to the West Falls Church Metrorail station where you will take the Orange Line (toward New Carrollton), transferring to the Green Line (toward Greenbelt), and get off at College Park/U of MD station.
• The university's Shuttle-UM buses pick up university-bound passengers on the EAST side of the metrorail station.
• Please contact Shuttle-UM for further bus usage information
• Super Shuttle is also a convenient option. The cost for a one way trip is $35 for the first passenger and $8 for each additional guest.
• Taxi service from the airport to campus will cost approximately $55.00.

Directions to the Center for Health Behavior Research in the Health and Human Performance Building

• After turning onto Campus Drive, proceed to the roundabout with the large "M".
• Turn right onto Regents Drive.
• At the 2nd stop sign, turn left onto Farm Drive.
• Turn right onto Valley Drive and continue to the HHP Building (see below for parking options).

From the front of the Health and Human Performance Building (from parking lot MM2)
• Enter the front of the building to the main lobby and turn right to take the elevator to the ‘Ground’ level.
• On the ‘Ground’ level, take a right out of the elevator and follow the narrow hallway past the racquet ball courts.
• When the hallway opens up, take a left at the red benches (the floor is now gray)..
• Enter the doors on the right side of the hallway when you see the vending machines.
• Take a left at the end of the hallway. The reception area to the Center is on the left.

From the Back of the Health and Human Performance Building (from parking lot PP2 by the Comcast Center)
• When you park in the PP2 metered lot, follow the opening in the trees to the foot bridge located North of the lot.
• Walk through the PP1 parking lot to enter the back of the Health and Human Performance building.
• Continue walking straight, past the elevator towards the end of the long hallway.
• Enter the doors on the right side of the hallway when you see the vending machines.
• Take a left at the end of the hallway. The reception area to the Center is on the left.

Parking

Free Parking

• Parking is available free of charge (only with a temporary parking pass) in PP1 and Lot 6 on either end of the HHP building.
• Please call our office 301-405-1028 when you arrive on campus and someone from the Center will meet you in the parking lot with a temporary parking pass for your car.
• In addition, visitors may park for free in Lot PP2 and Lot 6 (next to the HHP Building) after 4 PM weekdays and on weekends without a permit.
• Directions from Lot 6
  - Enter the Health and Human Performance Building on your left.
  - Take the first left when you see the vending machines (machines on the right).
  - Take a left at the end of the hallway. The reception area to the Center is on the left.
• Directions from PP1 or PP2
  - Enter the building through the side door on the ground level in the PP1 parking lot.
  - Follow hallway towards the other end, turning right at the vending machines (machine will be on your left)
  - Take a left at the end of this hallway. The reception area to the Center is on the left.
  - It you have difficulty finding our office, please call 301-405-1028.

Metered Parking

• Metered parking is available in lots MM2 and PP2, as indicated on the map.
• More metered parking is available between buildings 99 and 255 (HHP).

Garage Parking

Arena Parking Garage

• Once on 193 go to the 2nd traffic light.
• Once on 193 go to the 2nd traffic light.
• At the second light make a U - turn (there are two left hand turn lanes and a left hand turn signal.
• Then make your first right onto Arena drive.
• Proceed to the parking garage.
• After parking, take the path from the 1st floor over the bridge till it dead ends. HHP is the building on your left.

From the Arena Parking Garage to The CHBR

• Park in the Arena Parking Garage, and follow the foot path from the first floor, over the bridge until it dead ends.
• Enter the Health and Human Performance Building on your left.
• Take the first left when you see the vending machines (machines on the right).
