Application Deadline for ALL Applicants

Completed applications for admission to the MPH & PHD Programs in Public and Community Health must be received by January 15th for Fall admission --there is no Spring admission. (A completed application includes official transcripts and official GRE scores.) Applications not completed by January 15th will not be reviewed.

Read carefully and follow instructions provided by the Graduate School for Graduate Applications.

MPH Applications are reviewed with regard to the following criteria:

  • Minimum 3.0 undergraduate GPA
  • GRE scores for exam taken within the last five years (See Student Profile) NOTE: GRE scores ONLY are accepted - no substitutions
  • Three Letters of recommendation that address your academic capabilities
  • Statement of goals and interests
  • Relevant academic/work experience

The following admission requirements are used to evaluate prospective candidates for the PhD program:

  • Minimum 3.0 undergraduate GPA; 3.5 graduate GPA
  • GRE scores for exam taken within the last five years (See Student Profile) NOTE: GRE scores ONLY are accepted - no substitutions
  • Three Letters of recommendation that address your academic capabilities
  • Statement of purpose and research interests
  • Enough relevant experience to show clear motivation in the field of public and community health

Ph.D. Program Admission Pre-Requisites:

  • 6 credits Psychology or Sociology or Anthropology
  • 3 credits minimum Anatomy and Physiology

Graduate Record Examination (GRE) Scores - verbal, quantitative and analytical, taken within the previous five years (Submit electronically to the University of Maryland, code 5814)
