As the Graduate Studies Director for the Department of Public and Community Health (DPCH) Dr. Sharp serves as chair of the Graduate Program Committee (which also serves as the Admissions Committee); recommends programmatic decisions regarding changes to graduate program policies; oversees qualifying exam administration and grading; ensures program competency coverage in courses; provides final approval/disapproval for policy waivers, course waivers, and independent study contracts; and assists current students with their program plans and other advising needs.

As the co-chair of the Faculty, Staff and Students subcommittee, Dr. Sharp plays an integral role in achieving and maintaining CEPH accreditation for the DPCH and for the School of Public Health as a whole.

Dr. Sharp also teaches undergraduate and graduate courses in the department, serves on several department and school-wide committees, and maintains research interests in the areas of health literacy, health communication/risk communication strategies, women's health, and stress management.
